CloseThe 2023 Dodge Hornet SUV is a four-door crossover that has an 8-inch ground clearance and measures 178 inches in length—a bit under 15 feet. The sportier R/T that will be available later in the model year-as in Q2 2023 or later-will have a lower ground clearance by almost 2 inches. Exterior color options are not known yet, but we do know that the Hornet will be fully supported through the Direct Connection program, which means that there will be many wheel designs and accessories available through which you’ll be able to customize your Hornet direct from the factory.
Dodge has not published the full specifications for the 2023 Dodge Hornet SUV as of this writing. We know that it seats five and will provide ample legroom and headroom for the driver and front passenger but also adult passengers in the rear seat. Dodge has announced that the Hornet will have 27 cubic feet of dedicated cargo space, which is quite good for the class, and more than 55 cubes with the rear seat folded. An upscale interior will be standard, but there will be some options for you to choose from, such as heated front seats and a premium Harman Kardon audio system with 14 speakers.
The Hornet is designed as an all-wheel-drive vehicle. As far as we know now, there will be no other drive layout available, and that is true for both the GT and the R/T, which will arrive later down the line. There will be mechanical options available through Direct Connection, but these are not known yet.
The GT trim level available at launch pairs a nine-speed automatic with the Hurricane4 engine. Dodge has said that it is aiming for 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. If you prefer more performance, you can wait on the R/T. It will be a PHEV—plug-in hybrid electric vehicle—with a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine that delivers even more horses and torque.
All models will have a 10.3-inch infotainment touch screen and a 12.3-inch customizable digital instrument cluster. The system will include support for Amazon, Android and Apple devices. Standard driver assists include frontal collision alert with automatic braking, lane departure alert, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. An optional technology package with add traffic-adaptive cruise control with traffic sign recognition, automatic lane centering and driver attention monitoring.
