There are three cab options: a traditional two-door regular cab and two crew cabs. Both are full-size crew cabs. The mega cab is simply a bigger version of it. Ram pairs the regular cab with the long bed and the mega cab with the standard bed. You also have the option of a 6.7-liter six-cylinder turbo-diesel in either a standard-output—370 hp and 850 lb.-ft.—or high-output configuration: 420 hp and 1,075 lb.-ft. The standard 2022 Ford Super Duty pairs a six-speed automatic with a 6.2-liter V8: 385 hp and 430 lb.-ft. The two optional engines are paired with a 10-speed. These include a 7.3-liter V8—430 hp and 475 lb.-ft.—and a 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8: 475 hp and 1,050 lb.-ft.
Both automakers take a similar approach in that if you opt for the work truck trim level—the Tradesman or XL—you get a more basic infotainment system with 4.2-inch touchscreen. You still get features like a rearview monitor, however. Beyond the work trucks, you get a HD touchscreen that is larger and a more advanced infotainment system. Ford includes integrated navigation, which is a nice touch. Ram includes it later in the lineup, but provides a larger screen and the sophisticated Uconnect 5 system. If you want driver-assistance technologies, such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking, those are available with both makes. Both companies also offer trailering-assistance technologies, but Ram has made some updates for 2022 that make its tech among the most advanced on the market.
