One reason that the 3500 made the list was its exclusive Cummins engine. This inline-six turbodiesel was recognized in 2015 for having the best torque rate of any heavy duty truck. In 2016, engineers tweaked the powertrain for a 35 lb.ft. gain. The result is a higher tow rating and more responsive handling. Drivers will appreciate 900 lb-ft of torque thrust. The new 31,210-pound towing capacity doesn’t require aftermarket parts. A gooseneck hitch or fifth wheel option are available from the factory.
