The base model of the 2021 Jeep Compass in Cockeysville is a good example of just how much utility and comfort the Compass offers. It has automatic dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a more than your average 6-speaker base model audio experience. You can easily integrate your smartphone information into your Compass via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard on the Compass, but a much more powerful and efficient 9-speed automatic is available on higher trims. It’s going to be the transmission on AWD versions. The added traction and stability is more than worth it to choose this transmission, but if your needs don’t call for a lot of wheel-moving power, the 6-speed is an excellent choice. You can save some money left over for other perks on the Compass.
The Compass is energized by a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine rated at 180 horsepower. It’s the 175 lb-ft of torque that makes the Compass the muscular model it is, though. Front-wheel drive is standard, but anyone can upgrade this to Jeep’s legendary 4X4 configuration and harness the power of all four wheels.
Safety is Jeep’s area of expertise. They know how many people adventure in these SUVs and just how important it is to have a driver-assist system and stocky build to protect everyone in the family. The airbag lineup on the Compass is excellent as always. You get a driver front-impact airbag, passenger front-impact airbag, and even front passenger airbag occupancy sensor. Available driver assist features are standard on higher trims but will be optional on trims like the Sport.
