The Truth About Cars has written extensively about the 2014 Ram Promaster, giving its seal of approval. The van is a leap, according to the blog, that others just hadn’t thought to take. You can see all 14 Configurations of the remarkable Ram Promaster. Just visit your Baltimore Ram Dealer. Don White Timonium CDJR is conveniently located in Cockeysville, MD.
European Roots, American Thinking
The Ram Promaster design is based loosely on a European style of van that been very popular overseas. The Chrysler/Fiat joint venture that created the Promaster started with all of the basics, including the front wheel drive. Then it reengineered, redesigned and otherwise remade the van to suit American needs. As The Truth About Cars pointed out, these improvements will probably be adopted by the European market.
Size Smart
As the blog notes, the Promaster is smart when it comes to size and strength. It offers a shorter body length than the shortest GM rival. It offers a longer body length than the longest GM rival. Other positives, as noted by the Truth about Cars, include the fact the base model comes in two lengths. The blog also noted that even with the basic 1500, drivers can load a pallet through the side and rear, which can’t be done in rivals like the Savana or E-series. The Promaster at its smallest is still only one cubic foot less in cargo space than the GM’s biggest van. “Ginormous”, the Promaster 3500 can haul as much as 530 cubic-feet of cargo. That’s “twice the capacity” of rivals GM and Ford at their largest.
Important New Option
The blog writers also like the steel bulkhead which can separate the cabin from the cargo. As the blog notes, this has two advantages over GM and Ford’s offerings. First, it is cheaper; and, second, Ram actually factory-installs it during manufacturing, which means that it is better at sealing out noise and retaining heat/air conditioning for the comfort of its passengers.
